this was done in 2023
Materials: upholstery foam, anti-pill fleece, eva foam (eyes), netting (idk what its called anymore), felt
In 2023 or so, I tried to dive into the local furry scene and attend my first MFF. Diving into the local scene was futile, but it motivated me to make this suit head. Before Astria, this base was made during 2020 and was meant to become my Lopunny pokesona because I wanted to take nudes in it LMFAOO. That was never finished because I couldn't afford the fabric and I was intimidated by the chance of fucking it up. I picked it up and started working on it again after I got back into oogling over fursuiters.
This was the refsheet i made for her. this was before Astria was her own character and was literally my truesona.
The first steps was building upon the old base. So I made a snout that fit Astria better, and then started to draft her patterns. This base was absolute fucking shit. The entire back of the head is open and like, very horizontal. It's why it's only front shots of this suit LOL.
As you can see here, I started laying out the fabric for the suit. I used Fleece because it's inexpensive and I liked the cartoony kind of vibe it gives a suit. Like, mascot vibes. Honestly, it was because it was cheap and accessible. I got some fabric from Wal-Mart.
I started to get the fabric down here through pinning and gluing. I'm gonna be honest, my process was fucking chaotic. I just didn't give a fuck and was going with the flow. I probably comitted a lot of fursuit making sins here. For a bit I wasn't sure how to go about her floppy ears, so I just want with sewing two potato shaped pieces of fabric together and sewing them on the side of her head where there were air vents. I made this suit as inexpensively as I could because I was testing the waters. All of this was hand-sewn. Don't let the sewing machine in the back fool you into thinking otherwise. I could not figure out the machine and that's why its on the floor.
Here it is finished! The puppy girl herself! For my first fursuit done on a whim, I was pretty proud of this when I made it. I did bring it to the furmeet I went to, but not to MFF. It sits in my closet with the Astria Build-a-Bear.
There's alot to improve upon for my next fursuit. I know to not use polymer clay for teeth. I know that lining the inside will save a lot of discomfort and I learned that fleece is pretty useable, it just needs a smooth base to look good.
